Amity Youth Development

We are pleased to announce that three long term part-time stewarding roles have been created for young people aged 17 – 30

Why part-time I hear you ask?  We have chosen part-time roles as they give young people the time to continue pursuing their dreams whilst still earning an income.

At Amity Security, we recognise that a career in security may not be for everyone. Even so, we understand the security sector can provide flexible working conditions that enable young people to earn an income whilst pursuing their dreams.

For many young people, this can offer the opportunity for them to explore other avenues whilst working. Working in security may not be their ideal job, but it can provide a solid foundation in customer service and interpersonal skills whilst they are transitioning into their dream role.

Providing work opportunities for young people enables them to retain a degree of financial independence during the crucial years of transitioning into independence.

Amity Training and Education

In September, we launched a new and improved Pathways to Employment Programme.

We have run a number of test pilot programs in the past and valuable lessons have been learnt from the pilot. The content of the programme has been revised to enable us to produce a programme that is dynamic and fun and even more employment-focused.

The more students enjoy learning the easier it will be for them to apply it to their own circumstances.  The programme includes elements of personal development, vocational training, practical training and ongoing support to gain employment.

Between them, our trainers have over 50 years’ experience of delivering high-quality education and training.  We believe that the training we deliver should lead to employment outcomes, not just training for the sake of training.

We are excited about our new programme and cannot wait to monitor the outcomes.

Approved Contractor Status (ACS)

Saying that the year has flown by is an understatement. It seems like it was only yesterday that we were preparing for our first ACS assessment. For those of you who are not familiar with ACS, it is a voluntary assessment which is managed by the Security Industry Authority.  Companies are assessed against seven different criteria such as:

  • Strategy
  • Service Delivery
  • Commercial Relationship Management
  • Financial Management
  • Resource Management
  • People
  • Leadership

On completion, it provides a holistic view of how a business meets the needs of all of its stakeholders and manages the business as a whole. ACS companies are expected to work to the British Standard Codes of Practice whenever they are appropriate to their activities.

Undergoing an ACS assessment is not something we have to do, it is something we choose to do.

We believe that it helps to strengthen our commitment to quality and ongoing improvement. Even though it is a bit of a nerve-racking experience, it is worth the time, effort as we believe it demonstrates our commitment to adhering to industry standards.

It is now that time of year again when we are preparing to undertake our third assessment…
